The amps behind the head unit
A factory amplifier is a separate box wired between the head unit and the speakers, and on most of the cars we see, it's the amp that fails, not the radio in the dash. We repair Ferrari ASK amps, Land Rover and Range Rover units built around Harman Logic 7, and Mini Cooper amps, all systems where the amplifier is a distinct, replaceable module rather than part of the head unit itself.
The same goes for Porsche, where we see Bose, Becker, Nokia and ASK amps depending on the model and year, BMW's Logic 7 systems, Toyota's JBL Harman amps, and Mercedes-Benz cars fitted with Bose, Becker, AGW or Harman amplifiers. Each brand wires and mounts its amp differently, but the failure and the bench work behind it is largely the same across all of them.

How a failed amp shows up
A failing factory amp rarely announces itself cleanly. Most often it's no sound at all from a system that otherwise powers on and tunes stations normally, or one channel gone dead while the other side plays fine, which points straight at the amp rather than the speakers. Intermittent sound, cutting in and out over bumps or as the car warms up, is the other pattern we see constantly, and it's almost always a solder joint or a component inside the amp losing contact under vibration or heat.
Pricing depends on the platform. A BMW ASK amp repair runs $300, a BMW Logic 7 amp runs $325 to $400, and a BMW M-ASK amp runs $400. A Rolls-Royce Logic 7 amp repair runs $650. For other platforms, ask for pricing on your specific amplifier when you call or email.

Honest limits and warranty
We no longer repair Mark Levinson amplifiers, and we'd rather say so upfront than take the unit in and disappoint you later. Everything named on this page is still very much in scope.
Certain amplifiers carry a 3-year warranty; everything else carries our standard 1-year limited warranty, the same coverage that applies across head unit repairs. Extended warranties are available if you want coverage past that.
